I'm trying to follow you're logic. There is no way that I know of to make ADSM
recognize LS40 permissions without using HPFS386. If you use HPFS386 then the
permission information is backed up because it is physically part of the file.
If
you are not using HPFS386 then all the ACP's and ACL's are stored in the
NET.ACC and
DCDB. When the files are deleted the records are removed as well.
A solution may be to assign permissions to the root directory of the partition
you
are restoring to, or to have several temporary directories that have "template
permissions" typical of what you want assigned to files. Then after restoring
the
files to these "temporary" directories move them to their permanent directories.
You could also write some batch files to update permissions at night. You can
use
the AT sommand to schedule things with LAN Server.
