Dear ADSM'ers:

The Admin Guide (AIX, V2, Section 12.3) states that an option to using
the DSMFMT utility to create logical volumes for disk storage pools
is to "to create a raw logical volume by using smit."

1. Is there ADSM doc on HOW to use SMIT to create logical volumes
for ADSM? (The DSMFMT utility requires the -data, -log, or -db
flags -- how will these formatting options be specified in SMIT?)

2. What are the PROS & CONS (if any) of using DSMFMT vs. SMIT logical
    volumes?

3. Are there any recommendations / performance issues with HOW many
logical volumes to have for the database, log, and disk stg pools?
For example, if I have a 5GB database, is it better to have 1-5GB
log. volume, 5-1GB log. volumes, 10-500MB log. volumes, etc? With
(I think) the logical volume limit for AIX being 256 GB, would it
be wise to allocate a single 100 GB disk storage pool?

Any positive or negative experiences on how you are allocating your
logical volumes would be appreciated!

Thank you,
