Matti,

1) We installed 2 3590 tape drives in a 3494 library last month.  We've
been very satisfied with the drives (and 3494 library) and have not had
any problems so far.  Performance hasn't been as good as expected but I
suspect this is more a restriction of ADSM than anything else.
Generally speaking, when migrating from disk to tape, large files are
moved very quickly but things tend to bog down when migrating lots of
small files, even after adjusting some of the parameters in the ADSM
server option file.  The tapes are on the expensive size ($50 + per
cartridge) but, in comparison,  DLT cartridges are in the $80-$100
range.

2) Don't know anything about this... the current drives are 10 GB / 30
GB compressed (although we haven't seen anything close to 30 GB on a
tape yet).

3) Not sure what kind of imformation you're looking for.  If you're
looking for reliability information, etc., you could always check with
somebody like Gartner Group, Meta, etc...
