Hi Bill, the ADSM x/open api is a slightly modified version of the "regular"
ADSM api. It conforms to the X/open Backup Services API (XBSA) standard.
Actually, ADSM development took the ADSM api to the standards committee and
it pretty much adopted it as the standard....a couple of changes, but basically
the same.

This ADSM x/open api was available with the March refresh, so it's part
of the latest AIX and Solaris client PTFs. Both API libraries are provided
for AIX and Solaris. All the other clients still have the "regular" api.

The space management standard that I think you are refering to, is really for
the client hsm function. There are efforts in place to standardize this
support so that vendors don't have to make kernal changes when developing
client hsm functions. I think it's still in process, but I believe at least
one platform supports it's current level....SGI, I believe (but don't quote
me on that!).
thanks,
