Let me see if I got this right (especially since I provided a partially
correct response earlier). :-)

I have a Win95 machine backed up with the Win32 client. Assuming I have given
the correct access rights to an OS/2 client, that client OS/2 client can
restore the Win32 files, including long file names. Am I correct?

Assuming the above is correct, if I initialize a hard drive with the proper
boot records from a Win95 boot disk (Fdisk, Format, SYS c:, etc..) and then
use the OS/2 client to restore the rest of the files on the disk, then I
should be able to boot the machine and have Win95 start from the new disk.
Are my allergy drugs deluding me?

Thanks
Jerry Lawson

I'm not sure if this was the original question. All of the version
2 Intel clients with the exception of Netware fully support doing
cross platform restore.

This means that data backed up by an OS/2 client (regardless of
file system type) can be restored by a 16-Bit or 32-Bit Windows
client.

Of course we only support restoring the file attributes the are
common among platforms, such as standard attribute bits (r/o, archive,
hidden, system, etc), file date/time, and filename casing where the
target platform supports it.

We also will do straight 8.3 file truncation on long filenames if
the target platform doesn't support > 8.3 filenames.

Obviously platform specific attributes such as HPFS EA's or ACL's
cannot be restored to foreign platforms.

Hope this answers your question ....
