We have identical problems with our 8500C 8mm drives except we get
ASCQ=02. This and related codes only come on full tapes. We have been
told by ADSM support that three other sites encountered the same problem.

We also have an open problem with ADSM support. They had us run traces
and have said the problem is down-level microcode in the 8500C drives.
Apparently brand new drives come at level 730 but the latest code is 7J0.
We are looking at upgrading soon which is supposed to cost $50. See
    http://www.exabyte.com/TechnicalSupport/FileTransfer for more info.
