I/We are an organization which specializes in ADSM integration in the client
server environment. While we are not mainframe familiar, we may be able to
help. The rudementary questions are:
What is the client?
Other client activity?
What is the data rate of the tape?
Is the data coming off of one tape?
Restore of full backup?
Other network traffic?
Server CPU activity?.
SPECint of CPU?
How long to do backup of 4GB
Client Mhz, Network Bandwidth, Server capability, Tape speed, non reclaimed
tapes, background activity,fragmented tapes, are usually the culprits. With
all the facts we can model various situations. Maybe you have explored all
of these obvious bottlenecks but if not I will take a look.
