Backup with informix, you can do backups online to disk without
taking down the database.  There are two utilities "onarchive" and
"ontape" that can accomplish this.  You will need to set the
backup device to a file (now this file must be able to accomodate
the size of the database so it may have to be on a large stripe
of drives or array). Always do a level-0 so you can restore the entire
database.  But, if you are using "onarchive" you could elect to only
backup certain dbspaces if the entire archive is just too large.
