ADSM/2 will only back up access controls using the 'incremental' backup mode,
 and only
when LAN Server is running - when LS is stopped, the extended attributes which c
omprise the
access control lists (ACLs) look like any other EA.

Selective backup, according to ADSM tech. support, does not back up directory
 information
such as ACLs. I was told that it is supposed to back up directory information
 the first
time a directory is backed up but, that there is (was) a bug. I hope it's been
corrected in
the V2.1 client but, haven't had time to check.

Restoral - of a server boot drive - would have to be done from floppy. Instr
uctions are
available in index.storsys.ibm.com/adsm FTP library for construction of floppy c
lient
diskettes.
