Well, I'm hoping to solicit some input from the crowd running ADSM on
RS/6000 platforms. I've been told to evaluate the cost for moving
ADSM off our VM platform to another platform and am wondering which
of the many different 6000's would be a good choice. I don't see any
reason to consider any of the other server platforms, I'd be starting
from scratch hardware-wise and the RS6000 server will probably always
be one of the first servers to have the latest features and
enhancements.

Realizing the size of ADSM implementation plays a great deal in
hardware configuration, figure 1000 clients, a 6GB database w/1 dbvol
copy and at least 6GB of online disk storage pool space. We'd like
to hook up both a 3494 Tape system with 3590 drives and a 3995
Optical system. (Has anyone used the new 3590's yet on an RS6000?
I dislike 8mm and would rather take the forward leap despite the
much higher price if the RS6000 can actually make use of that fast
an i/o rate)

The major conern I have is whether or not an RS6000 can handle the
i/o of doing an expiration, performing a multi-process migration
and still deliver a decent response with 20 clients connected.

What hardware seems to work for you? or what hardware would you
ideally like to run ADSM from?

Thanks for any recommendations, I'd like to get a bit of real world
information from people already using it and what they'd recommend
before talking to the saleszombies. Appreciate it.
