IBM PowerParallel seems to be of several
minds about the use of servers like
this one. While they clearly like the existence of these two
lists and occasionally use them,
they don't 1) tell new users about them and 2)
don't broadcast availability of fixes on them.
The IBM ADSM development group, on the other hand, broadcast the
availability of fixes from their own FTP site on the ADSM-L list.
There are also frequent exchanges between development and the
user community. They don't, however, document to new customers
the existence of their list.
I wish that IBM KGN would follow the ADSM guys lead and
use these two lists for direct communication to the SP2 user
community. I wish that they would tell new customers of
1) these lists and 2) the existence of user communities at
SC'9x, SUPER, and SHARE.
The more information exchanged by all parties, the more satisfaction
there will be with the products involved.
Maybe we can get them to do these good things.
