IBM's Storage System Division in San Jose, California, is pleased
to announce an Early Test program for two new versions of the
ADSTAR Distributed Storage Manager (ADSM) product, V1R2, that will
run on an HP-UX server or a Sun Solaris server.

ADSM is a client/server application which allows ADSM clients to
backup, recover, and archive data to ADSM servers through a central
scheduler. ADSM already has a heritage of servers on the MVS, VM,
OS/2, AIX for RISC System/6000, and AS/400 platforms, all of which
support the following backup/archive client environments:

     AIX for RISC System/6000 3.1.5, 3.2, 4.1 or later
Apple Macintosh 6.07 or System 7
DEC Ultrix 4.2A, 4.3, or 4.4 for DECStation
     DOS 5.0 or later
     HP-UX 8.07, 9.01, 9.03, or 9.04
     Microsoft Windows 3.1
     Novell Netware 3.11, 3.12, 4.01, 4.02 or Personal NetWare 1.0
     OS/2 1.3 or OS/2 2.0 or later
SCO 386 Unix 3.2.4 or SCO Open Desktop 2.0
     SunOS 4.1.1 for Sun-3
     SunOS 4.1.1, 4.1.2, 4.1.3 for Sun-4 or SPARC
Sun Solaris 2.2 BCM or 2.3 native mode

BENEFITS:
Participation in the ADSM Early Test program provides HP and Sun
customers with an opportunity to test ADSM for HP-UX and ADSM for
Sun, prior to their general availability.

CRITERIA:
The ADSM Early Test program is targeted to begin 1Q95 with a
LIMITED number of DOMESTIC customers who meet the minimal success
criteria for participation:

Provide a test / production system running HP-UX 9.04 on an
HP 9000 Series 800, or Sun Solaris 2.3 on any Sun workstation,
that supports a variety of ADSM clients.
Supply input to IBM on the quality of the product, and the
value of ADSM to the customer's environment.
Able to attend a 1-day education session in Tucson, AZ, work
to an accelerated test schedule of 8-10 weeks, and participate
   in weekly telephone conference calls.
Agree to be a reference and provide customer testimonials.

Note: Due to resource constraints, the ADSM Early Test program
is only open to U.S. customers.

INTERESTED?
If you are interested in participating in the ADSM Early Test
program for the HP-UX server or the Sun Solaris server, and you meet
the minimal success criteria, please contact the ADSM Early Test
