We are running ADSM (and previously WDSF) on VM and have been offering
this backup/archive service to our user community for a little over a
year now. This service has become increasingly popular and now there is
a push on to make ADSM the 'offical' backup platform for the MIT
community. Since this would make backing up to our ADSM server over the
campus network a requirement for many, we are concerned about sensitive
data being sent out in clear text form. It would be great if ADSM
provided data encryption as an option or provided exits in the clients
to allow us to call an encryption routine but unfortunately neither
option is available. One option would be for the user to encrypt
sensitive data before running ADSM, but we would prefer it to be more
transparent to the user. Is there a painless way to do this?

My question is: What have other sites done to address this issue?

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.
