Hmm a bit late commenting of this, been off wandering about abit but
here's some stuff I piddled with.

I found a copy of QuicKeys and it works nicely for automating the backup
on a Mac but purchasing 50-100 copies, would cost _mucho_ money. Thanks
for the suggestion though but, buy a software package to run another
package just gets laughs around here until we get to the VM system,
people are use to that there.

I found a public domain Cron implementation for the Mac posted to the
Mac archive sites (UMich anyway). Works pretty well for starting the
Scheduler and stopping it but, getting the stop command to work for it was
odd. On the good side though it only takes 34K of memory, and runs as a
background app. This I can live with. Also gives the ability to shutdown
the Mac when the Mac becomes idle after the backup. It's not real robust
I'll admit but, it's free (much important here, always want everything for
nothing) and runs in a lot less memory than 1M. Comes with some other
toys, echo, beep etc, and a stub to write your own apps for Cron, I
think the notes say the code was done with Think C 5.0.
