Under AppleShare 2.x, you can't run any other programs on the AppleShare
file server. In order to back it up, you must log into it as an administrator
and back it up from another Mac (WDSF or ADSM). But even as an administrator,
you can't backup the Users and Groups file because the system keeps it open.
I don't even think the administrator can see the file.

Under AppleShare 3.x, you can run ADSM on the AppleShare file server, and
you can backup the Users and Groups file. However, when files are accessed
directly on the server, the AppleShare priveleges are not picked up.
Therefore, any files backed up will not get their priveleges backed up.

So you still need to backup any AppleShare 2.x or 3.x servers from another
Mac logged in as administrator, and should backup the Users and Groups
file by hand. I will continue to look into this problem to see if it
can be handled differently. You could try using ADSM to just back up
the Users and Groups file on the server - I haven't tried this.

Something to remember - when restoring a server, you should restore the
Users and Groups file before any other files, otherwise the priveleges
for those files will not get restored (you can't restore rights to a
user if that user doesn't exist).
