Long - The server should halt if sent a SIGTERM (the default of the 'kill' command). You could try 'kill -9' on it. But make sure it's not an avoidable thing... First, check the obvious: inspect you

If you're starting dsmserv from /etc/inittab check to see if you have it set to respawn. If it is, change the inittab entry, refresh inittab by issuing the "telinit q" command and then try killing it
