I've never tested any numbers on which filesystem best suits a VFS device. Personally, I use ext3, but I would certainly be interested in some empirical analysis of this topic. Dustin -- Open Source

Hi, normally we use reiserfs on all of our servers. The only reason we decided to use ext3 for the vtapes is that it took several minutes to mount a big (mine is 12 TB) parition with reiserfs. Regard

We are using zfs filesystem running Solaris on Sparc HW and it's working well, x64 HW is an option for Solaris as well. Go for it. -- GG
