If you do an audit library, TSM knows that the tapes are not longer in the lib anymore. If you change the empty tapes offen, you can schedule jl. an audit and after that a checkin with search=yes and

Hi Phillip We also had the same problem with insufficient slots in the 3494 library and the manual states if you require extra slots who should use the move media command as by using the checkout ADS
