One important thing that I left out of my description of DLT drives is that they are not suitable for all uses. If you can't drive the data to them fast enough, they may perform worse than 4mm or 8mm

Take a look at the newly announced 3590's. They are slightly more expensive than 3490E, but they hold 10GB uncompressed. They can also be put into a 3494 Automated Tape Library. We are looking into t

They cost a bit more than 3490E, but have you looked into 3590? With an auto-loader, one 3590 can hold up to 300GB (compressed, it's about 100GB uncompressed). Paul
