I got the same error when I was doing a DB restore for one of our W2K Library clients. The issues was I had define the device name using the /dev/mt0.0.0.n. In W2K the device name does not need the (

Is your library set up as "manual" in the devconfig? In my experience, using an external library requires this setup for the DB restore. Give that a shot. We had similar problems with a DB restore on

My definitions of drive devices are OK, TSM server was already in production and I use mtx.x.x.x as usual in W2K. Tomas

Of course my library definition in devconfig is EXTERNAL, because we use Gresham to control library. Could you exactly describe how to set up this library as manual in devconfig please? Thanks Tomas

We run TSM on AIX 5.1, using Gresham to control a 9310 with 9840 and 9940 drives. To do the restore we used this devconfig file, and when the server requested a mount, used EDT to mount the volume in
