Hi, We're contemplating adding an RS/6000 ADSM server to our backup scheme. We have a 3590 shared between our MVS and VM systems via ESCON. Is anyone else sharing a 3590 between a mainframe system an

Hi Arty, We are about to buy a 3494 with 8 3590 drives, 4 of which will be ESCON attached for VM/MVS, and the other four will be SCSI attached to an RS/6000-F50 for ADSM. My understanding is that th

Our setup uses escon cards in two rs6000 servers. The only problem we had was keeping ADSM on MVS separate from ADSM on AIX, but careful use of NetTape has worked. The speeds via escon are almost ide

3590 is ALWAYS SCSI attached. A 3590 attached to a mainframe via ESCON is really using an A00 controller in between, which is really an RS/6000 (C20?) with a SCSI F/W differential card to attach the

We have 3590s in large STK silos shared between an MVS system and several large RS/6000 SP2 systems (plus several SGI systems). The 3590s are connected to the AIX and IRIX boxes via SCSI. They are co
