Tar works on filesystems, dump on devices. Try using your mount point instead of the device mounted on it ( / in this case). However, since the Linux box I tested it on did successfully create a tar

What OS and OS version is the client, and what version of amanda? Also, as someone pointed out, it makes a lot more sense (especially with tar) to use directory names rather than device names. I vagu

The server's running RH9 and the client is RHWS 2.1. I'm making my backups based upon the 'dumptypes' defined in the amanda.conf example that was provided to me. The only 'dump' dumptype that I see i
