We currently have our NW server sharing several tape drives with a dedicated storage node using DDS. We're looking at implementing a storage node (not dedicated) to reduce the load on our NW server.

We do this right now. NW 7.1.4 on Solaris 9 using an Overland Storage Neo 8000 library with 9 x LTO2 drives. We have one Networker server and two storage nodes on this single library. Each system has

It probably depends on your library.... It will most likely place the tape into the next available slot. Our library (a DELL PV136T) would not recognize a cleaning tape until I put a barcode on it...
