I don't use an ATL library, or STK, but on the two libraries I do use, the documentation contains very detailed information about how bar coded labels should be printed. I suggest you check the manua

The Quantum/ATL M1500 we just got came with barcodes that had 8 characters. The ATL barcodes should be pretty standard although I forget if the standard is 3of9 or something like that. Robert Maiello
