I done the same implementing something like GFS algorithm and keeping a : File Retention = 12 months Job Retention = 12 months so I can select job and restore files in 12 months, if I need something

I use tapes from a pool that has the recycle flag off for all jobs that I want to never recycle. For the failover database you can get that from the tapes themselves using the bacula volume tools. J
