    Exclamation TSM for VE 6.3/6.4

We have both Linux and Windows VM's and need to schedule VM level backups for both OS.

Question is: Do we require seperate vStorage servers for Linux VMs (on Linux Platform) and for windows VMs (on Windows Platorm)? Recommanded by IBM? or else we can scehedule both on any platform?

    Anyone any ideas?

    Thanks in advance, Srikanth

    Hi,
You can do it using iSCSI. iSCSI is only way to restore Linux data.

We are backing up Linux VM's using Windows vStorage server. Can we do file level restore of these Linux VM's using Linux vStorage server where DP for VE is installed iwth same version?

    Hi
You can perform file level restore Linux VM using Windows or Linux vStorage server.
There is only one advantage to use vStorage on linux - you can perform INSTANT restore for MBR partitions. Only MBR partitions.
If you use LVM on VMs - you can use only iSCSI on Windows or Linux - doesn't metter.
