TSM Server side data deduplication savings
Is there any way for me to determine what the savings are for each object when using the 6.3 TSM server side data deduplication.
I am getting awesome results using client side data deduplication but now want to compare that against TSM server side data deduplication and can't find how to determine how much was saved per object.
Thanks

Dedupe works well on many DB's, I've seen 3:1 and as high as 8:1. It all depending on the DB data type and make sure you DO NOT use compression on the backup, it will cause untold problems with dedupe capabilities.

What Chad says about compression is very true. TO add to that if you use Encryption, it will also cause issues with Dedupe. We are currently seeing this on a protectier and dedupe is just plain not working for anything that is encrypted.
