Management class can be specified for a directory. TSM documentation says that when management class isn't specified for a directory, TSM server chooses for backup operations the management class with the longest retention period in the backup copy, and for archiving the class with the shortes retention time. It doesn't specify what happens when management class is defined for a file or a subdirectory.

Assuming that when directory is backed up or archived some its files and subdirectories are included in the data management operation, what are the rules governing which files and subdirectories are included and which aren't?

I couldn't find answer in TSM documentation or on storage forums, including this one.
