Changing drive in 3576, serial number not gettign updated
Hi,
I was wondering if any of you experienced such a problem:
I recently changed a drive in my IBM 3576 library, and did a library reboot.
No matter what I try, the serial number of the drive does not get updated in the library.
I know it MUST have changed since an IBM tech swapped it, but the library GUI doest not get the new serial.
Also "itdt" in Linxu give me the same serial as before. Im confused.
What is the usual procedure for a drive swap?

Did the tech mistakenly put the same drive back in again?

3592 tape drive could inherit the serial and/or the WWN on 'old' IBM 3494 tape library.
Isn't it possible that this happened with you too?_flex.

Flex is right the position determines the wwn number. and the serial should be the same even if the drive is new. Drive and library each have separate maintenance agreements and thus need to keep the serial number even if they are swapped.
Windows, does it come with a gui?
