Large file restore from ProtectTier dedupe pool.

I'm looking for confirmation on how a restore works in this type environment.

A large file, say 500 GB backed up to a dedupe pool, or any pool for that matter, is spread across multiple volumes.
If a restore is requested of the 500GB file is initiated and is followed by another restore of any file size that requires data residing on one of the volumes uses by the 500GB file.
Is it is going to wait until the 500GB file is complete? Does it put a reserve on all (potentialy) MANY volumes until it is complete?

I'm trying to head off some issues.

If yes, TSM will attempt to restore at the same time.

Unfortunetly, no. The ProtecTier is setup as a virtual tape library, devclass=LTO.

Generally the VTL volumes are on the small side even though they emulate a LTO3 tape. So if your volumes are 50 GB or less you will use 10 volumes for a 500 GB file. The question here is do you use co-location for the data? I would think if you do, then there would be very few reserves issued. If not then a volume would get a reserve and once it is free it would be picked up by the other restore. I don't think that all volumes are held until the whole file is restored.
