I was asked a couple questions by management yesterday and I wasn't sure how to reply to these. Thought maybe someone here would have some insights. These are in regards to using devclass=FILE.

1) Does TSM reuse volume names for file devices after a volume has been deleted/scratched.
/path/0000C0000.BFS
/path/0000C0001.BFS <-- Gets deleted
/path/0000C0002.BFS

will we ever create a new /path/0000C0001.BFS ?

2) What happens if TSM reaches the end of the volume name range? For example, if I ever got to volume /path/FFFFFFFF.BFS does it start over with /path/00000000.BFS ?

Yes I know that this is an insanely large number of volumes By my calculations it would take 4,000 years to exhaust this volume range given our daily backup size.
