    Default TSM need volhist.dat to restore DB

    Dear All

    In TSM DB recovery procedures,it needs a volhist.dat to restore the DB.
    So I have some questions on this.
    1 Can volhist.dat be changed?
    For example
    Operation Date/Time: 2012/09/15 08:06:36

    Volume Type: BACKUPFULL
    * Location for volume ABCDEFL5 is: ''
    Volume Name: "ABCDEFL5"
    Backup Series: 11
    Backup Op: 0
    Volume Seq: 10001
    Device Class Name: xxxCLASS

    After changing the Operation Date/Time or Backup Series, the restoration still work?

    2 If we lose volhist.dat, how to restore the DB?

    If you know the name of your DBB volume, then just restore by naming that volume on the command line:

    this is an older version of TSM, but we're still on version 5.

    a basic example would be:
    dsmserv restore db devclass=8MM volumenames=tape01,tape01 commit=yes
