How to restore backups of particular node
Hi,
I am trying to archive the backups of a node.
Can some one guide me with the procedure or commands for this.
Thank You!Last edited by tsmtsm; 08-28-2012 at 06:55 PM.

You can't do an archive of a backup. You either have a backup, or an archive. If you want to keep the data of a node that you have been backing up, remove the association of the schedule of that node on your TSM server. TSM will then keep that data until you delete that nodes filespace, because there is no longer a schedule for that node, TSM "thinks" that data is still active and will not make any changes to it.
If the node and data is still there, just run an archive.

Alternatively what you might be looking for is "export node ...".
It puts all the node's data onto a tape or a file.

Hello @tsmtsm,
You may also consider investigating what we call a 'Backupset', previously known in the product as an 'Instant Archive'.
A backupset takes the backup data for a given node and creates a portable archive image onto external media which can be moved between TSM Servers and even restored directly from the client without the need for a TSM server.
Full details on creating a backupset for a node are here, and there are one or two caveats to note (e.g., TDP data) >> http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/ts...bckupsets.html
Hope that helps,
