how to add cleaning cartridge?
i tried adding a cleaning cartridge from the web portal, it says in process.
When I look into the act log it says,
ANR8323I 002: Insert ANY volume CLNU64L1 R/W into
entry/exit port of library LTOLIB1 within 45 minute(s);
issue 'REPLY' along with the request ID when ready.
I have a cleaning cartridge in the I/O slot of my tape library, but it won't take it. what else needs to be done?
thx.

What is your library model?
I don't check in cleaning via the TSM on IBM libraries. I use the library's console.Ed

This is IBM. Same procedure - checkin cleaning tapes via library console and set library to auto clean as needed.

ok, I see.
But is there any advantage in this, versus having TSM manage the process?
I would still be interested to know how to check in a cleaning tape into TSM.

I would rather leave this role for the library than TSM. This is one less activity that TSM needs to do.
To checkin cleaner tapes:
checkin libvol <library_name> <label_of_cleaner_tape> status=cleaner checkl=barcode waitt=0 cleanings=<max_number_of_cleanings_left>
Insert the cleaning tape on the I/O then execute the checkin command.
use the command: clean drive <library_name> <drive_name> to clean a driveLast edited by moon-buddy; 06-28-2012 at 12:48 PM.
