TSM 6.2 Windows: Very high memory usage
Hi all,
We have a TSM 6.2 Server on Windows 2003 Server with 256 GB of RAM. We have dimensioned this system to support four Server instances. Actually we have only one TSM Server instance started that consumes 170 GB of RAM. We are planning to have four TSM instances started.
The question is why the first instance consumes 170 GB? Is it possible to release some memory? How we can determine the total memory needed for the four instances?Last edited by SATA4ever; 06-22-2012 at 05:25 AM.

Have you looked into the DBMEMPERCENT server option? This allows you to manage DB2 memory usage on multi instance servers.

Hi,
See DBMEMEMPERCENT server option (to be placed in dsmserv.opt). For 4 instances, it should be set to 20 (%) if you want each instance being able to use 20 % of the available memory.

Unless there is a compelling business reason for multiple instances, I would consider consolidating into one instance.

Hi,
Thank you for your replies.
We have tried DBMEMEMPERCENT, but it seems that it dosen't work. TSM Server is still consumming 170 GB of RAM. We have opened an IBM case and we are waiting for an answer.

We ran into a similar problem and it has to do with the way MS windows manages memory
Check out what we found and worked on our 2008 servers
