Job Description:
Our Technology and Management Solutions group is growing and we are seeking a versatile Network and Systems Engineer. The successful candidate will be assigned to several commercial and government clients for short term ad-hoc assignments within the Baltimore/Washington DC area.
This position requires the ability to gather requirements, collaborate with team members and interact directly with customers. The candidate will need to address a variety of technical environments, sometimes unfamiliar, with the assistance of sr technical team members.
ICF seeks someone eager to learn new technologies and develop on existing skills. The successful candidate possesses the ability to understanding over arching client objectives and their relationship to technical tasks.
It is expected the candidate possesses the ability to install, operate and maintain Windows Server in an Active Directory Domain, perform maintenance and common troubleshooting of Unix and Linux systems. Candidate is expected to have strong knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP and DNS. The candidate is expected to have real world experience with data backups, restorations and security practices.
Candidate is expected to have the ability to pass a government trust background check.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
■Windows and Linux System Administration
■Installation of Server Applications such as IBM Tivoli Storage Manager
■Windows/Linux/Unix system trouble shooting
■Maintenance of Firewalls, Switches and Routers
■Tasks related to data protection such as backups restore and data migration.
■Interpret, understand and implement security policies and controls
■Collect customer requirements and draft statements of work and technical documentation.
■Perform basic project management tasks to manage time and customer communication in accordance with client needs.
Basic Qualifications:
■3 Years of Windows Server Administration/Knowledge
■1 Year of Unix or Linux System Administration
■3 years of TCP/IP networking, routers, firewalls and switches.
■1 Year experience with Tivoli Storage Manager server and client administration
■1 Year experience working with Information Assurance, Cyber Security or general Network and System security.
■1 year experience with VMWare and Windows Hyper-V
Preferred Skills and Experience:
■Microsoft System Administration Certification(s)
■Cisco Certification(s)
■VMWare Certification(s)
■Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
■Experience with Unix/Linux Shell Scripting
■Working and Practical knowledge of Disaster Recovery Practices
■Strong understanding of data backup & restore practices and methodologies
■Understanding of industry standard security practices, NIST Guidelines and FISMA compliance requirements.
Professional Skills and Experience:
■Strong verbal and written communication skills
■Strong customer support skills
■Proficient with MS Office applications

How can you request they have those skills and call it a Junior Systems Engineer? I never understood the people who write up these requirements for "Junior" level positions.
