TS3584 Web Not Working
Our 3584 library suddenly is not displaying the web interface.
Is there anything anyone knows that may solve it, powering the library off and on? I think we've seen this happen before, but I don't remember what fixed it. Could have been a power cycle then too.

Reboot the library is the most effective resolution. I don't know if the console has a soft reboot option.

You can check the IP address from the library's panel if I remember correctly - so you can make sure that it hasn't picked a new address via dhcp. Failing that, if the IP is correct and network connection is good then a power cycle of the library is pretty much all you can do.

It was pingable by its proper address. I powered off and on and it's ok now. I wish there was another method besides power off/on.

If anyone else runs into this issue, there's no need to power cycle the library. There is button that can be pressed (labeled "MCP"). Look in the back of your library, in the base frame, just above the power units.
From IBM TS3500 Infocenter......
Medium Changer card pack (MCC or MCP)
In the TS3500 Tape Library, a circuit board that provides a communication path to each tape drive (via the RS-422 interface) so that library commands can be funneled from the tape drives to the accessor. It includes one RS-422 interface allotted for each drive in the frame. It also provides management and service interfaces to outside servers. For each library frame that contains at least one drive, there is one MCP. The electronics of the card pack are located in the FCB.

Think we've just rebooted ours, what version of the library firmware are you running?

Firmware version is 8900. I should have mentioned in my last post that I wasn't just providing info I found. We actually did this yesterday. Our web interface went unavailable again yesterday and we did this instead of rebooting. The IBM CE happened to be on site for something else. He told us that's all we had to do. It worked. Much less intrusive than having to stop all processing and power off and on.

Well today it did it again. Lost the web interface. The MCP button on the back didn't work............and REBOOTING also didn't work. IBM will have to come onsite to check it out.

FYI - our 3500 is at 8930...this level stabilised some frame control issues we were having.

Thanks Tony.
It was a disabled switch port, and it's just happened again and the network admin looked at the switch immediately. Here's from the network admins, with comment and switch logs.
Our switch received BPDU packets from this interface. These are control packets that the spanning tree protocol uses to prevent loops in the network. When the Switch sees a BPDU packet from an end device that should not be sending these packets it disables the interface to protect the network

So we know its at the switch. Now we need to find out why the library is sending those packets.

Old thread - but I like positive and recent posts.
Our GUI interface stopped working. After searching I found this thread.
We were able to resolve the issue with just reseting the MCP. It did do a complete scan of the library, but nothing major.

It was determined by our IBM CE that the MCP was bad, sending those BPDU packets and causing the switch to disable the port. IBM replaced our MCP.
