Problem with labelin
Hi I am new in Tivoli and having this problem.
TSM 5.5 is install on IBM Blade Server HS21 withWindows 2003 32bit. Have 2 dual port HBA, one of HBA is zoned with TS3200 via 2 san switches.
TSM is going to make backup on tape ts3200. I configure the library, 2 drives and paths. When I start labelling of volumes with vollist parameter Tivoli start with labelling process, he label one or two tapes and then stops. The process is still running but not taking any tapes for labelling, and change Drive State to UNLOADED. When I connect to tape from web doesn’t show any errors, drives are empty and everything look ok.
I try labelling via command line and administration central and in booth case showing the same problem.
command
label libvolume TS3200 search=yes labels=vollist checkin=scratch overwrite=yes vollist=vol001,vol002,vol004,vol005,vol006,vol007
q drive ts3200 f=d

Look in the tsm activity log with "q act". Its not going to fail these operations silently, there will be something in there that will help diagnose.

Are the tapes in the I/O slot or in the library slots? If the tapes are in the I/O slots, change to search=bulk and run the label command again.

tapes are on the library slots.
The problem is when one tape is labelled i can see that volume like scratch tape on TSM but when second tape is labelled say
Volume VOL002 has been labeled in library LIBR.
But this tape i can not see like scratch tape its not added like scratch and then tape drive state is UNLOADED, and not changing to ready.

state of unloaded means the drive has ejected the volume, but the library hasn't picked it up and moved it back to home slot. Are you seeing library errors or perhaps a tape is stuck in drive - in which case you'll need it manually ejected?

Library doesn’t show any errors, tape is back to home slot. You can see the drive status on previous post, there is no errors. When I connect to the tape from web it’s showing that all tapes are on home slots.

Vlatko,
Can you explain your configuration: "one of HBA is zoned with TS3200 via 2 san switches" with more details? Are two switches two separate fabrics?
Do you see one tape over one HBA port and the other one trough other HBA port on your server? If so, I suggest you to move both tapes to one fabric, and zone two tapes with one HBA port on server. You will probably have to rediscover devices, redefine library etc.

labeling problem
Hi Mita. I have 2 DualPort HBA, First HBA is zoned with Storage, Second HBA is zoned with one TS3200 trough separate switch, First Port on First Switch and Second Port on Second Switch. Tape TS3200 have 2 ports and they are connected same as HBA, each port on separate switch. Next what I was to do is to connect on same switch, I hope this will help me.
Mita I like to call you in the office for advice, i was on December on TM50 course.
Pozdrav.

Labeling problem solved
Thanks to Mita201 I solved the problem. Seems that RSM service was making the problem from other client who are zoned with TSM.
