IBM Flashcopy and Netbackup
Guys
I have one solution where i am putting IBM Flash copy on DS4800 to reduce backup window
for offline backups using IBM Flashcopy.
Question is whether netbackup can work with IBM Flashcopy or not? Does any body using it ?
Second , Can simple netbackup client backup AIX raw logical volumes ( just as normal TSM client can do )
Appreciate any help in this regard

IBM FlashCopies are used for backup & release management
Hi Wallpapers2009,
The main usages of IBM FlashCopy are as follow:
1- Help you get backup faster & with a smaller backup window.
2- Some customers are using it for release management where they clone the disk then use it to patch it with certain data & get special reports without having to affect the production.
3- Some companies even use it as a replacement for backup.
You can find a bit more about FlashCopy usages at
IBM System Storage DS8000 FlashCopy Usages
To take it even further IBM has released IBM Tivoli FlashCopy Manager more than a month back. That should easy the usage of IBM Storage FlashCopies & make it handy. A good tutorial on that which will educated you further about flashcopies as well can be found at:
