NetBackup is Symantec's "Enterprise" solution. It can scale to a much larger environment than BackupExec. NetBackup more robust features such as disk storage and staging, multiplexing, multistreaming and reporting.
NetBackup offers Vaulting capabilities and is much more extensible than BackupExec.
BackupExec is a good product, but NetBackup is just in a much larger class and it price reflects that fact.
NetBackup is more in the same class as TSM than BackupExec.
