Using TSM Client to backup a remote share
Hi Folks,
We have recently added a netapp SAN to our enviroment. Using TSM 5.3 what would be the best way to backup the SAN? We have a distributed enviroment where the TSM servers and Tape drives are in a remote location and from what I have read NDMP may not be the best option for us. I figured an easy way out would be to use the client on a node in the same location to backup the SAN data remotely. I have tried
Include "\\remote_server\share name$\...\*"
Include "\\remote server\sharename$\*.*
as well as mapping drives and including domain X: in the dsm.opt which matches the mapped drive but had no luck. I am able to manually backup and restore the SAN data using nodes client. Has anybody ever been able to remotely backup file shares using TSM client? Thank YouLast edited by Noob; 10-29-2008 at 09:32 AM. Reason: Shorten the length of text.

I backup up data via the cif share on emc boxes . The command i use in the dsm.opt file
DOMAIN \\servername\share
DOMAIN \\servername\share
DOMAIN \\servername\share
DOMAIN \\servername\share
DOMAIN \\servername\share
DOMAIN \\servername\share
I then run the scheduler service as an authenticated user
you will have to add these manually to the dsm.opt (no gui)

I have added those lines to dsm.opt and restarted the schedular. Out of curiosty I went into the GUI>backup to see if it picked up the locations I have added and it hasnt. Nor has GUI>restore picked up those entries. Why would that be?
