DS4700 and Vmware 3.5 ESX
We have the following scenarios:
2 ESX Hosts Server Running Vmware version 3.5 with HA(High Availability configured)
In the DS4700 we have defined a Host Group with the two ESX hosts defined within this group. We assigned two Luns to this ESX Host Group and everything was working fine.
All the sudden one day we needed to move some virtual machines from one host to the other, but the other host just begun seeing the luns as new Disks?
Any ideas what could be the problem
Vmware support people claims that the problem is the storage, and the only solution they gave us was to delete the LUns and create them again (In the DS4700).
Anyone with a similar situation?

I am afraid that the VMWare folks are correct - you have to recreate the LUNs.
Check your firmware level on the DS4700 plus the driver version you are using. These maybe out of date or out of sync. Double check your zoning if you have a SAN switch installed.Ed

We have firmware 7.10.23 loaded in DS4700. We have also checked the zoning and haven't found anything strange. We have a Microsoft Exchange Cluster in this same Hardware and haven't had any problems at all.
Do you have any other suggestions besides checking firmware level and zoning?

Are you using Volume Copy or Flash Copy
Hi ttercero,
Are you using Volume Copy or Flash Copy in your environment. If VMware see the original drive & another drive with the exact same signature that kind of problem usually occur.
Hope that help,
Julie
