I work in bioinformatics (research) and this particular stg is about 100 TB.
Anyhowm I just wanted to know if my procedure is correct. We might find another solution in the end (ir buy more...
We would bring the tapes back from the off-site. In case of disaster recovery, we will bring all tapes back, or if a user accidentally deletes a file, he has to wait until next day to get his file...
Thanks for the reply. If I understand correctly, if I don't define an external storage pool, my disk stg NROBOT_DISK will fill up to capacity. Right now, I play with the migration parameter as such...
We currently have three storage groups: primary stg NROBOT_DISK on disk, and we write two copies to primary stg ROBOT_TAPE, and secondary copy ROBOT_COPY (hich we send off-line).

How can I find out which files are transparently recalled with TSM recall? In my hsmlog.log file :
I am looking for a command in TSM that would tel me a file resides in which volume(s). I have the "query content <volume>" command, but would like the inverse, something that I...

About preschedulecmd, is it executed (1) before the the whole backup starts, or is it executed (2) every time before a file needs to be backed up? The later (2) behaviour would work for me, because...

Thanks. Could you give me the link where I can read up on scheduled backup versus scheduled command script?

We have TSM backing up GPFS filesystems. If the GPFS filesystem becomes unavailable (ie: umount or GPFS shutdown) while a scheduled backup is running, TSM expires the files from the backup.

Here is the definition of our copygroup:
tsm: TSM1>q copyg SHARE-PD ACTIVE PROJECT-MC ...
I would rather backup metadata separately and let TSM backup the data only.
What hurts us is that our users do a lot of setfacl recursive on their directories. Does anybody know if...
If a permission changes on an existing file, will the content of the file will be backed up again? Not sure if it matters, but the filesystem is GPFS.

Sorry, just so that I am 100% certain:
if /lb/projects/projectA/file is migrated, and then it is moved to /lb/projects/projectB/file
Then the next sceduled backup will recall ...

We have Space Management on the client (using GPFS.) In the scenario above, what would happen if files have already been migrated? It would back up the stub only, or it would recall the file to...

We have TSM 6.3 running on the server, and clients with GPFS filesystems that we are backing up.
The problem is that a user can do a move (or rename) on a directory, and the whole directory will...
