You can do this from the GUI as well.
Just go to "Utilities" -> "Delete filespaces".
I'm doing this with a TSM client at level 18.104.22.168,
don't know if it was available in previous releases.

That explains it :)
I had no idea that the server only verifies the LO pct compliance after finishing migrating all data for a client node.

I know, I've been put in charge of this environment only a couple weeks ago to audit it.
Enlarging the disk pools was not an option because the SAN storage is maxed out as well :)
The problem was...

I have the following issue in our TSM environment.
Sometimes disk pool migration starts automatically at night when large amounts of new data are being backed up overnight.

Does anyone know a product that can do reporting for multiple TSM servers in a consolidated way?
I am familiar with the TSM 5.5 Operational Reporting that ships with TSM 5.5,

Thanks a lot,
this hint is gold!
I also had no idea why the DB2 install was failing......

I've struggled with the same problem a while ago.
This is caused by windows server 2008's User Account Control (UAC).
You can disable this by doing the following:
start -> run -> secpol.msc

I was wondering if someone here already figured out how to remove individual VM snapshots in TSM that were taken with the vstorage API.
I have set backdelete=yes on the VC node,...

Thanks for sharing shribar.
I've also implemented the extra management class with success,
works like a charm!

Not that I know of.
I'm waiting for BA client 6.2.4 / 6.3 :)
06-08-2011, 05:44 AM
I would think so since the TDP uses the functionalities provided by the BA client API.
I have discontinued implementing the TSM for VM TDP because of this, so I didn't test this.

Thanks for sharing this information Mitch.
I had the exact same problem and also solved it by downgrading the client back to 6.2.2.
It's a pain in the ass though,
because I was going to test...

What kind of problems exactly did you run into using TSM6 deduplication?
I know I'm digging up an old thread here,
but I will be implementing a device class FILE based TSM solution soon, and found some quite helpful info here :)
But I saw BBB's last remark: 1. Beware...

Thanks for the reply,
Figured this one out.
I had to set AUTOCOPY=MIGRATION indeed,
but not on the DISKPOOL, but on the primary tape pool.
Apparently you have to set the COPYSTGPOOLS,...

Thanks for all the replies and sorry for my late answer.
The reasons why we do not see a big drop in total data stored are:
-> We have a lot of Oracle TDP backups, and as Chad said,
10-12-2010, 09:10 AM
I don't understand why it should not be immediately visible.
We have dropped down from 450 days to 365 days,
I would say this reduction is big enough.
There have to be a lot of inactive versions...

we have recently reduced the retention for all policy domains from
450 days to 365 days.
This was done about one week ago.
We've done this because we are running out of capacity.
that's not true,
you can perfectly restore an image backup to a file system that is larger than the file system for which the image was taken.
The restore location just needs to be the root of...
I'm currently monitoring a tsm server where the recovery log fills up quite fast.
(TSM level 22.214.171.124)
The recovery log is at 13 GB (=the maximum for TSM 5.5)
I'm wondering why the log fills up...
I was wondering if a restore session can time out if there are no drives available. (no diskpool) (drp situation)
If you launch for example 8 restores at once on different servers with the...

Thanks for your answers.
We've decided to take a monthly selective backup of certain filesystems on certain servers, to a different nodename in a different policy domain. (only 1 version)

nodes that have a huge amount of small files,

Hello fellow TSM'ers,
I have a question about DIRMC useage.
I have to move a node from one policy domain to a new one.
The old policy domain has a DIRMC managemnt class for the directories.
03-24-2010, 08:49 AM
it was a user rights problem apparently,
I switched the user used to run the service from my customly created user tsminst1 to the local Administrator and everything is working now.

Hello fellow TSM'ers,
I've just configured a TSM 6.2 server instance on windows 2008 R2

there was nothing wrong with the binary.
after uninstalling/reinstalling several times without success, I just reinstalled the tsm 126.96.36.199 client which seems to be the only option now.
