I'm trying to use LTO3 drives for Linux based tsm server v6.3 and so trying to install lin_tape src rpm. I have issues when rebuilding using rpmbuild --rebuild.

Finally it did work for me, hurray!
Did reconfigured agents for TSM servers in tep server. The thing I was missing is under 'server address' field, I have given the host name. Changed it to IP...

I did verify the agent configuration which has uncheck the "No TEMS" box and using the protocol IP.PIPE...

I still don't see all the tsm instances in TEP.

Do we need to add/update any...

Will Incremental compares the selective backup?

1st backup is selective and 2nd backup is incremental.....how will tsm do it? 2nd backup is just like full backup or like the name says incremental?...

Technically, data backup tape defines to a storagepool and procedes. But DB backup should not be assigned to stgpool.

from this you can say both cannot go to a same tape.

Yes, they all are directories and explanation makes sense to me in terms of retention.
Does it mean I will lose the directory structure if I don't have the destination setup for that long retention...

Here it is... I check mgmt class from ba GUI by going to restore. There files bound to the correct management class which is FOREVER_MGMT.

I have done a selective backup for 1TB which goes straight to tape. But from 'q backup', the class name shows different class name (besides the actual class) which is set for TOC but destination disk...

You can also filter like

select tabname from tables (OR)
select colname from columns where tabname='TABLE-NAME-HERE'

It doesn't need to be same file name but make sure you are defining to the right file name to the right drive by comparing WWNs.

For example:
Library Manager has drive file like /dev/rmt1 and LC...

use the command 'q backupset <backupset-name-here> begind=-10 endd=today f=d' to see the vols used by this backupset in last 10 days and you need to manually check them out.

As far as retention...

Not sure what exactly you are looking for......you cannot process backupset tapes with 'move drm'. It is only for copypool and db.

instead of running 'q drm' 2 times you can put them in single...

Overall process took around 15hrs and just the conversion itself took 3hrs for 90GB db. I would say it needs some practice b4 going to production. ISC needs websphere/db2 and is better this time. If...

DRM should take care of expiring db backup vols if it is setup for no. of days.

Cross check with 'q volh t=dbb' and count the no. of tapes from output.
