Different policies same storage pools?

Hi, i have a new server that i want to backup using daily monthly and yearly schedules (different node and policy of course).
Can i use the same storage pool in the same policies, or do i have to create different stg pools?
The reason i'm asking about it is that i want to save pool in my disks using the Deduplication.

Management Console on v 6.2.5

I recently upgraded my TSM server from 6.2.2 to 6.2.5 and now I noticed that my management console is no longer there. I don't know how to create an TSM server instance without it.

Please help.

Drive Offline

MOUNTRETENTION parameter does not affect

i have TSM v6.3 with External tape drive TS2250 Configured as manual Library(Under Windows server 2008r2,64-bit), my question is:

i change the value of MOUNTRETENTION parameter to 9999 minutes, but still the tape dismount after 60 Minutes!! why

even i restare the server

Maybe this has been discussed. Didn't find it anywhere...

Specific TSM node data in /path1, retention 37 months.
Other data of same node, retention 30 days.

If I set my DIRMC to a 37 month retentioned management class, and point it to a storage pool called "dirpool" (which is only for directories, and doesn't migrate), how can I have the data in /path1 go to storage pool called "datapool," which DOES migrate, while keeping the other directories and data only on a 30 day retention?

To accomplish this, am I going to have to setup this long-retentioned data as a separate node?

Export/Import Issue on System State Filespace

Hi all,

I'm using TSM 6.3.3 server code on both source and destination TSM servers, and have come across an issue where the system-state filespace is basically bombing out during the export/import process. The import process on the destination server will basically try and mount a file (the device class is file), but just sits there, and the session goes into into Memory IPC wait until I basically recycle the server.

Has anyone else seen this, and if so, know of any fix? I can't see any APARs for anything even closely related, so I am tempted to log a support call with IBM, but figured I'd ask here first.

why the tape volume eject after every backup/restore operation?

Good Day to you all,

why the tape volume eject after every backup/restore operation?
cause i want -after every backup/restore operation- the tape volume stay in at library.
Or in other words, what can i do to force the tape volume not to eject?

Deleting Old storage pools

Hi
I have TSM 6.2.2 running on redhat, that has some old storage pools that i want to delete. Problem is we have some old tapes that have gone missing that are in those pools. So of course it wont let me delete the pools until i have moved the data. I have tried to destroy the tapes but that does not seem to make a difference.
I am getting a ANS8001I with a return of code 13. This is just telling me there is still data assigned to the pool.
Any ideas how i can get around this please

Problems with Unicode error

We have installed new TSM instances, version 6.3.2.00. When NetApp backup with TOC we get in 2 volumes the Unicode error "ANR4941E The server is unable to translate the Unicode name while building table of contents for node node name, filespace filespace name, Unicode name unicode name node identifier node id , parent node identifier parent node id. Table of contents creation fails." According to the IBM Web site, the problem is fixed in version 6.3.4. Is there a workaround until then, to solve the problem ?

What is the difference between TSM reclaim vs update? I have accidentally run the reclaim command on my offsite pool? Is it fine to run the reclaim command on offsite pool or is there a bad impact by running this command?
Below is the reclaim Command which i ran on Offsite pool

How do I attribute that changed to cause a backup?

Hi All,
A few questions if I may.

1) Is there some way to find what attribute of a file / folder, changed to cause a Incremental backup?

2) When doing a q session, what exactly is the Bytes Recvd column showing? A backup is showing 1.1T in this column for a node but the data growth in my diskpool does not confirm this.

I am running TSM Server 6.3.2, x64 2008 r2, with a TSM client 6.2.3, x64 2008 r2
