Greetings Administration Center Gurus:

I have successfully installed Administration Center 6.3.3.000 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 version 6.1 SP1. I can see all nodes, filespaces, policies, etc. on the TSM server while being logged in as tipadmin.

I am trying to automatically deploy BA client deployment packages to our TSM client nodes and I have two questions:

Question #1

Please refer to my attached settings.png file. What is the 'Directory'? Is it supposed to be a directory on the Administration Center server or is it a directory on the TSM server that will ultimately hold our BA clients for deployment to various nodes? Does the 'path' need to include a drive letter?

Question #2

Anyway, I figured I'd try to 'schedule' an automatic deployment after manually FTP'ing the BA clients into an archive storage pool on the TSM server. I figured I'd try and test the scheduler. You can see the scheduled deployment results in schedule.png and the ANS1081E 'Invalid search file specification' error I get when the scheduled job takes off (see dsmsched.png). Any idea why I'm getting this error?

Anyone who has successfully done this type of deployment using the Administration Center may be able to help me see the error of my ways. Is this a question for IBM?

Thanks.

TS3310 Library Query - Move Data

My client has a TS3310 library with 6 x LTO3 drives and want to add (and eventually replace with) six LTO5 drives.

My client has a TS3310 library with 6 x LTO3 drives and want to add (and eventually replace with) six LTO5 drives.
They want to keep the six LTO3 drives alongside the LTO5 drives.

So, is it best to define a second library within TSM, with a second dvice class? My thoughts were to have a devc defined
as Ultium3c and the new one as ultrium5c. The existing format of 'DRIVES' is not valid when i have a mixture of drives.
In terms of migrating the data off LTO3, will TSM allow me to run a 'move data' from the LTO3 to LTO5 volumes, bearing in
mind they are in a separate library?

My initial advice was to:
- remove all LTO3 scratch volumes.
- replace the LTO3 drives with the LTO5 drives
- populate as many slots as possible with new LTO5 media
- define drives and paths to TSM
- run move data to start emptying and removing the LTO3 media

Best to stick to my initial advice?

Hi

I have read an IBM white paper regarding electronic vaulting.

https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/c...torage%20pools

Suggested Scenario is this:
1. write the data to a de-dupe enabled pool
2. Copy the data to a remote dedupe enabled copy pool (i assume using backup stg)
3. Copy the data to a local pool (non-dedupe) (i assume using backup stg)

4. Not sure how this works, but i thought it not possible to run an incremental backup stgpool twice, for the
same pool. Once an incr backup stg is complete, it will find no data to process if i run it again.

The detail in the doc mentions setting up device classes, pools and backup the stgpool to the de-dupe copy pool,
but no mention of the local copy pool.

Anyone shed some light on this please?

Any comments/thoughts welcome

Hi, when installing administration center (6.2.4.000-TIV-TSMAC-AIX.bin) I got this:

The Embedded WebSphere Application Server Update Installer is not installed on
your system. Install the Update Installer that is packaged in the cdimage
folder and retry the installation.

Alright, I found a solution here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docvie...id=swg21609084

So I did following:

cd ...../cdimage
unzip 7.0.0.7-WS-UPDI-AixPPC32.zip
cd UpdateInstaller/
./install

It run quietly (no errors neither) but TSMAC still gives the same error. What am I doing wrong? How can I confirm the supposed packages were installed (lslpp -l ??)

Thanks
